UUP Councillor Nicholas Trimble is the son of David Trimble, former First Minister of Northern Ireland by another son of a political icon of Northern Ireland, Ian Paisley Jr. “They’re in a position where something else will need to happen before they can return to the Assembly without saving face, and I just don’t see what that is at this moment in time.
“Nevertheless, we are delighted to welcome him to Northern Ireland look forward to working closely with his administration. We value the support he gives to the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement. Sinn Féin Vice President and incoming First Minister Michelle O’Neill is also urging the DUP to return to Stormont and incoming First Minister of the Northern Ireland Assembly, also called on the DUP to return to Stormont.
