David Dobrik’s Tesla giveaway drove 100,000 new voter registrations in 1 day

On Tuesday, Dobrik promised his social media followers a chance to win one one of five Tesla 3 models if they share his post to their Instagram story, tag a friend’s handle in the comments and check if they’re registered to vote via nonprofit HeadCount’sBrand new 2020 Tesla 3 models start at around $35,000 each, making the overall giveaway cost at least $175,000 total.
There’s still time for Dobrik and HeadCount to rack up even more registrations—the contest will run until Sunday.Dobrik himself is not eligible to vote in federal U.S. elections. Born in Slovakia and brought over to the U.S. as a small child by his parents, Dobrik is a DACA recipient, a status he occasionally references in his vlogs.
