The issue is fueling a debate in Paxtang among some residents, who have started a petition saying the fate of the fire house is in jeopardy.

“I really think anything less than reliable service for the residents is a disservice to each and every person in this community,” Frankenfield said. Stambaugh refused to share details related to the proposed contracts, other than to say both would require the borough pay fees and would allow volunteer firefighters to continue to serve. She said the borough’s public safety committee will present findings of those bids as early as the next borough council meeting on June 21.
