Danilo defends Cyriel Dessers as Rangers fans told it will take time for revamped Ibrox attack to 'properly click'
Rangers’ new Brazilian ace got the plaudits after Saturday’s 4-0 win over Livingston as he opened his Light Blues account. But Dessers left the pitch to the sound of jeers after an error-strewn display that saw Michael Beale’s side struggle to finish off Livi until a late flurry of goals. But Danilo has faith his new team-mate will come good. He said: “It’s early in the day and we’re still getting to know each other.
The Ibrox abuse only relented when Danilo put Gers 2-0 up with 12 minutes left. But the former Feyenoord and Ajax ace reckons the punters are right to hit out when they don’t like what’s on offer. He said: “The fans always want us to score goals and to play good football. “But at the end of the day there are so many things going on on the field and in your head so you just have to try to be focused as much as possible not to make mistakes. We try to go forwards but sometimes you also have to go backwards. You have to make the right choice at the right moment.”
“It’s not guaranteed for Rangers to play in the Champions League but we’re going to do our best and hope we can come through.
