Dan James had his best game in some time for Leeds United as the Whites drew with West Brom
Former Leeds United defender Matthew Kilgallon believes Dan James could be ‘massive’ for Daniel Farke’s side this season if he can build on Friday night’s performance. James was the Whites’ brightest and most threatening as they took on West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road in their third outing of the Championship campaign so far.
Unfortunately, James couldn’t help Leeds to their first win of the season, but he did set up Luke Ayling’s equaliser with his inch-perfect cross being headed home by the right-back. On another day he could have bagged a couple of goals himself, too, spurning a glorious chance at the near post before forcing an extraordinary save out of Baggies keeper Alex Palmer.
James has struggled for consistency during his time at Elland Road and last season he was allowed to leave the club on loan, joining Fulham for the duration of the campaign. He underwhelmed in his first two competitive outings back at the club, too, but he’ll be keen to build on Friday’s showing and Kilgallon insists he could make a huge impact moving forward in the Championship.“He looked sharp, looked fit and got back to help the team out to defend,” the former Whites defender told the BBC.
“He had two shots – the curler he tried and in the first half as well when he hits it into the floor and gets a deflection and the keeper made another save off him. Hopefully, it’s a positive for Dan because I don’t think we have seen the best of him yet.
