The co-owners of Lucky’s Hot Chicken in Dallas have reached a settlement in a civil lawsuit after they were accused of raising $1.8 million andThe 14 people or entities who accused Dallas restaurateurs Hunter Pond, Lou Olerio and Pond’s company Vandelay Hospitality of “fraudulent conduct” asked for “in excess of” $1 million in the lawsuit.Co-plaintiff’s attorney Andrew Bergman said his clients are “satisfied that this is over.” The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Lucky's Hot Chicken moved from Hillcrest Avenue in University Park to Oak Lawn and Lemmon avenues in Dallas in 2023. A few months later, it closed. Bergman’s business partner and co-attorney Jay Gray said the seven-day turnaround — from the date the lawsuit was filed, Aug. 24, 2023, to the date of the first settlement filing, Aug. 31, 2023 — was one of the quickest settlements he’s seen in more than 30 years in law.. Olerio chose not to comment.The lawsuit included Vandelay Hospitality, a Dallas-based company that no longer lists Lucky’s Hot Chicken as one of its 10 restaurant brands on the company website.
