The wide man was relentless during the 3-0 victory over Livingston for the 10-man Hoops.
There's maybe another reason Celtic have so much money in the bank these days. At a time when energy bills are still sky high, Parkhead chiefs must be saving a few bob by hooking Daizen Maeda up to a generator. He could keep the Celtic Park disco lights on until Christmas – in 2035.
But nah, not him. When asked if even he was knackered by the end, he hit back. “Was I feeling tired?” Maeda said: “No. Nothing. Not at all. Even if we had extra time I could still run. It’s no problem.” No wonder Maeda is a manager’s dream. He might not always get it right with his final ball, but he’s a living nightmare for opponents who don’t get a minute’s peace. He might run 60 yards and lose the ball, but he’ll dash 60 back and win it again and have another bash.
“Even before the game on Saturday, he told me I was going to score. I was very happy to repay his faith in me.” “We have a week to prepare for our next match so hopefully we can continue in the same form next time. Whatever has gone on before, we cannot look back. There is a time to talk about it but then we move on. There are a lot of positives to take from the win and we will be looking to do our best next time out.”
“For me, I think it’s important to get results in the domestic league as that will allow us to take confidence into the European games. Winning in the league is important first – then we can take belief into the European matches.”
