Customers of an Anchorage used car dealership accused of unfair business practices are eligible for restitution under a settlement with the Alaska Department of Law.

Anchorage Auto Mart LLC will pay $60,000 toward a restitution fund in addition to $35,000 in civil penalties, according toA consumer protection lawsuit the state filed in 2020 against the dealership accused the company of failing to tell customers vehicles lacked a title when sold, failing to disclose that vehicles had reconstructed titles, misrepresenting the accident history and posting false or misleading advertisements.

The dealership denied it used unfair and deceptive practices but agreed to a resolution, according to the law department.People who purchased a car from the dealer between September 2014 and October 2021 can file a claim for restitution until June 17. Claim forms are available from the Alaska Department of Law’s consumer protection unit by email at [email protected], by phone at 907-269-5200 or by mail at 1031 W. Fourth Ave., Suite 200, in Anchorage.
