The inside of Expresso Bakery in Elyria was heavily damaged Sunday morning after a vehicle crashed through the back wall. ELYRIA, Ohio — Two people were injured Sunday morning after a car crashed through the wall of a bakery, trapping a worker and also the driver of the vehicle.
A worker in the bakery was trapped after the crash, but a customer who was in the store pulled the worker to safety, according to the fire department., Elyria City Council member Andrew Lipian says the worker was pinned between the counter and some bakery trays. Lipian says it’s estimated the vehicle was traveling about 65 mph when the crash occurred. “It’s a miracle no one was killed,” he writes.
“She’s in good spirits and we joked because nurses were concerned that there was blood, but it was blueberry jelly!” he writes. “She’s certainly a tough cookie and it looks like over time she’ll heal up OK.”
