Located a block from Cuchara, the new Cucharita, opening late September, will highlight Mexico City-style breakfast dishes and cocktails.
Owners Ana Beaven and Charlie McDaniel, who created the beguiling
, are planning a second restaurant invested with the same creative energy they brought to their initial concept. Called, the breakfast and lunch restaurant is expected to open sometime in late September only a block from Cuchara at 315 Fairview . A project a year and a half in the making, Cucharita will offer what Beaven calls a “refined breakfast experience” with a menu of house-made breakfast breads, egg dishes, tacos , a coffee program, fresh juices, mocktails and a full menu of breakfast martinis .Earlier this week the owners treated friends and best Cuchara customers to a sneak peak of Cucharita, a construction site-themed party complete with musicians and an Aztec blessing ceremony.
Beaven said Cucharita’s menu will include chilaquiles that will change every week from a library of about 50 recipes; tamales including specialty holiday varieties; breads and cookies that will change weekly; and a signature dish called Huevos Bernie made with two eggs fried in olive oil served in a clay cazuela and topped with a spiced ground beef served with a side of raw serrano peppers, chopped onions, oregano, salted yogurt and flour tortilla.
