Crews fight brush fire that threatened homes in Mira Mesa [Breaking]
A brush fire sparked in a Mira Mesa canyon Saturday afternoon, leading authorities to evacuate nearby homes, San Diego police and fire officials said.
Reports of the fire in Los Peñasquitos Canyon started coming in about 3:45 p.m., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue’s online log. Several 911 callers reported that the fire was in a part of the canyon near Montongo Street south of Acama Street, and had come within 100 feet of homes, San Diego police said.
