Detained Senator Leila de Lima asked the courts to let her temporarily leave her detention cell in Camp Crame as her family was advised to 'prepare for the inevitable' as her mother's health continues to deteriorate.

Two Muntinlupa courts have allowed detained Senator Leila de Lima to visit her critically-ill mother in Iriga City.

The courts gave de Lima a maximum period of 48 hours, including travel time, from August 14 to 15. She must return on or before August 16. The Philippine National Police was ordered to provide personal escorts to de Lima. President Rodrigo Duterte sees no problem if the courts allow de Lima's request for furlough, Senator and long-time aide Bong Go said.
