A new pay structure for workers at Glasgow City Council needs to be put in place as quickly possible a financial watchdog has said.
The council is currently carrying out a job evaluation exercise aimed at preventing pay inequalities.
The deals were funded by a sale and leaseback of a number of prominent city assets and landmarks including Kelvingrove Art Gallery, City Chambers,GoMA and the Riverside Museum.But the Accounts Commission said the new scheme has been delayed and said it must be completed soon and any further delays avoided to minimise the need to sell off even more assets to fund payouts.
Ronnie Hinds, Chair of the Accounts Commission said: “The Commission has previously commended Glasgow City Council for its work in addressing the pay inequalities that staff have experienced, some for decades. The council has strong processes in place to deliver a new pay and grading structure, which we are pleased to see given the complexity of this issue and the financial costs.
