A senior manager at the council has been charged in connection with an alleged incident at a homeless soup kitchen.
Allegations of verbal abuse towards volunteers at the Homeless Projectservice each night under the Heilanman’s Umbrella bridge at Argyle Street, where volunteers serve food to people and an outreach team offers support and advice to people on the streets at risk of homelessness.The alleged incident took place on a Friday night around 10 pm when it was reported someone approached the volunteers and was abusive.Police have confirmed a woman has been charged.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a disturbance on Argyle Street, Glasgow, that occurred about 10pm on Friday, 11 August, 2023. “A 52-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and she is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.”
A spokeswoman for HSCP said: “It would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing police investigation.”
