Could Hugh Jackman Be Playing Multiple Wolverines In Deadpool 3?

Hugh Jackman's return in Deadpool 3 might be an even bigger event than thought, as the actor could be playing more than one Wolverine in the movie.

Deadpool 3 will see the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, which might include the star playing multiple versions of the character, if Jackman himself is to be believed. Jackman and Deadpool 3 lead Ryan Reynolds shocked the world last year with the announcement that the X-Men franchise actor would be returning as his iconic character Wolverine for Deadpool's first foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wolverine's complete movie timeline has allowed Jackman to play the mutant at different times in his life, with the actor's most recent portrayal of the character — 2017's Logan — pitting two versions of Wolverine against themselves. With Jackman saying he has a "double role" in Deadpool 3, it appears that Marvel Studios will be using the Multiverse Saga to its fullest.

While the MCU using actors from the past X-Men movies until now — such as Evan Peters and Patrick Stewart — has been with the purpose of them having cameos opposite Marvel's own heroes, it is possible that Jackman himself will stay on as the MCU Wolverine starting with Deadpool 3.

Of course, several possible Wolverine variants could allow Jackman to stick around the MCU a little longer for the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga without the actor playing the MCU Wolverine. Jackman's last turn as the character could come back with the actor playing a variant of Old Man Logan, whose stoic attitude would bounce off Reynolds' chatty Deadpool nicely.
