He was asked to carry the torch for the franchise and he has met those expectations, bringing three Stanley Cup championships to the franchise, turning western Pennsylvania into a hockey hotbed and creating enough interest to lead to the construction of the PPG Paints Arena in downtown Pittsburgh, where tonight’s game will take place.
