Two North Jersey Congressmen vowed to continue fighting NYC's congestion pricing plan.
to charge a toll to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street, U.S. Reps. Josh Gottheimer and Rob Menendez said they found evidence the plan will worsen air pollution in Bergen County as drivers try to skirt the congestion zone.
Gottheimer, perhaps the most vocal congestion pricing opponent, cited information from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Environmental Assessment. That study predicted higher levels of air pollution in Bergen County and the Bronx, New York, that would be caused by trucks detouring around the Manhattan “congestion” zone. He and Menendez spoke at a press conference outside the Jersey City entrance to the Holland Tunnel on Tuesday.
