The council’s Traffic and Transportation team will continue to monitor Carlisle Road and is currently considering options to further encourage drivers to choose an appropriate speed to travel within the built-up area.
He said: “Sadly there was a recent death on the dual carriageway in East Kilbride, which isn’t the first in that area. “I’d just ask that there’s a bit of urgency attached to this because it is well-known for boy racers and I think there’s more accidents there.”
