'It's been left boring'
Concerns are being voiced in a Nottingham town where shoppers fear there will be 'nothing left soon' without serious investment. Bulwell has been hit with a number of store closures in recent months, with Boots the latest high-profile firm to confirm it would be shutting its branch in the town centre.
Dave Perrin, owner of the Times Furniture Co in Main Street, Bulwell, said: "We sell furniture all over Nottingham, we get that people enjoy going to the market - they come from everywhere especially as we have the trams." Other independent businesses such as Budget Wise on Commercial Road closed permanently earlier this year.
Fred Bradshaw, 60 has worked on the market for 52 years, and thinks the town also needs more security in addition to investment. He said: “Bulwell’s anti-social behaviour needs to be sorted out and the scooter things. There were police last Saturday and we didn’t see anything.Residents in Bulwell feel the same. They would all like to see more funding and less closures in the area.
