Floodwater was discharged from the drowned Swallow Roundabout into the small river during the heavy deluge from Storm Babet
Calls have been made to hold a public meeting over concerns that excess water pumped into Invergowrie Burn had “worsened” the flooding chaos in a neighbourhood in the village during Storm Babet.
The resulting debris is said to have swept along the burn for just under a mile before blocking the bridge between Burnside Road and Station Road, causing a massive overflow of water onto the streets. The Labour representative agrees it would be the “right thing to do” but insisted that time should be given for the appropriate agencies to investigate the flood impact.
The road bridge connecting Burnside Road and Station Road was reopened on Thursday following a “thorough inspection”, with the pedestrian crossing already accessible.Between 30 to 40 tonnes of mud has been removed from Station Road and Boniface Road by council clean up crews. “Once roads are cleared, we will be cleaning out the gullies to make sure they are not blocked by any residual mud.”
