Rochester, N.Y. — Hundreds gathered on Sunday in Rochester to raise awareness about loneliness.

People take a stand against loneliness and the mental health crisis that many people face at the Compeer Rochester's fourth annual charity walk on Sunday, November 5th 2023 Loneliness has been declared an epidemic by the U.S. Surgeon General and has been proven to be more deadly than smoking.

The walk brings to focus the importance of staying active in colder months to lessen effects of isolation and seasonal depression. "We are fighting against that loneliness that so many times associated with people who have mental health diagnoses," Sarah Passamonte, President, Compeer Rochester. Compeer has been in this community for 50 years fighting that epidemic before it was named. This is a perfect way for us to get together, hang out talk to your friends make new friends and join Compeers to end loneliness is all together.The walk which originally is now in its fourth year and drawing hundreds to the cause.
