'No one can understand just how deep that break is.'

The town of Ballymena has been 'shadowed in sadness' as police launched a murder investigation following the discovery of suspected human remains on Sunday, June 11.

"This is heartbreaking news for Chloe’s family and friends and will shadow the town of Ballymena with sadness. "I listened to the words of Chloe's brother, Phillip, when he said that the family is broken. I think we can only start to begin to understand what those words really mean, completely broken by this news and I think that a lot of people will be broken by it.

TUV leader Jim Allister said: “Tonight’s [Sunday's] sad news in Ballymena will evoke great sympathy and support for the Mitchell family on their tragic loss. "Obviously it is very difficult this morning for all those effected, including the family, but it also effects all of our searchers and any human being."

UUP MLA for North Antrim, Robin Swann said: "Heartbreaking news for the Mitchell family and the Harryville community this evening. Our thanks go to the Community Rescue Service, the Police and all those who have helped and supported the family over the past few days. Anyone who can assist the police should contact them."

“Two men, aged 26 and 34, remain in police custody helping police with their enquiries. Further details will follow in due course.”
