It was evaluated in a randomized controlled trial, in which a representative sample of US adults received an actual direct-to-consumer newspaper ad for Pridclo to reduce heart attack risk, with either the legally required ‘brief summary’ or the drug fact box.

When test results are not definitive, interpreting them requires integrating their uncertain message with the uncertain belief that motivated taking the test, namely, the prior probability of having the condition. With COVID-19 tests, the prior probability should be higher if users have COVID-19-like symptoms or think that they might have been exposed to the virus.
