San Antonio Lighthouse is one of the programs operating out of the new Multi-Assistance Center. Lighthouse works with the blind and visually impaired and uses the kitchen workspace to teach people how to cook at home.
Our growth in slightly more than a decade has been phenomenal, thanks to support from so many.
Because too often inclusion has been overlooked, the estimated 15 percent of the population with special needs is always at a disadvantage in trying to achieve a better quality of life. I’m encouraged by the increasing focus on inclusion locally, regionally and nationally. It’s a topic that must continue to be addressed if our society is going to embrace all citizens and offer opportunities for everyone.
