Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein contends a new court order does nothing to impede city plans to adopt new gun-control measures. Ohio AG disagrees.

banning local gun-control legislation in Ohio. The city of Columbus contends the law violates the city's home-rule authority under the Ohio Constitution.

Klein contends McIntosh's stay does nothing to impede the city's planned efforts to pass new gun-control measures that would prohibit ordinary citizens from having large-caliber ammunition magazines containing more than 30 rounds, require the safe storage of firearms when minors could reasonably be in danger of handling them, and prohibit"straw men" sales where people who can legally purchase firearms do so for those who can't.

But Bethany McCorkle, a spokesperson for Yost, said Friday that the attorney general's office does not agree with Klein's statement. Judge McIntosh could not be reached Friday to clarify the matter as Franklin County Common Pleas Court was closed for the Veterans Day holiday. The public disagreement is the latest development in the ongoing legal battle over.
