University of Illinois senior after repairing aeration marks on the greens

Tommy Kuhl, a fifth-year senior at the University of Illinois, informed tournament officials that he’d repaired aeration marks on the greens during his round. Repairing spike marks on greens is allowed but fixing aeration marks is not.

Kuhl was playing at a local U.S. Open qualifier at Illini Country Club in Springfield, Ill., over the weekend. The Golf Monthly report said Kuhl reported his violation to officials after a teammate remarked about the difficulty the aerated greens caused.Kuhl has had an outstanding year for the University of Illinois, averaging just over 70 per round and finishing in the top 16 in his last 11 events,Thanks for visiting PennLive.
