A much-anticipated speech by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell was delayed after a group of climate protesters stormed the stage chanting.

Powell was set to deliver a key policy address on monetary policy before the Economic Club of New York on Thursday. While he was being introduced, the group began shouting about oil and gas financing. “Off fossil finance, Jay, off fossil finance,” the protesters chanted as they made their way to the dais at the front of the room. The address was being broadcast live and organizers at the event quickly dimmed the lights as the group walked onto the stage. Some of the members of the audience could be heard mumbling and jeering in the background as several of the protesters, seen as dark silhouettes in the dim room, appeared to sitting down on the stage.
