The deal includes an opt-out clause for Bell after the first year. He will make $16.5 million in 2023 and $16.5 million in 2024.
Last season Bell played for Washington and San Diego. He was sent to the Padres as part of the Juan Soto deal at the deadline. Bell hit .266 with 17 homers and 71 RBI last season.
Bell, 30, finished last season with a career high with 147 hits and 81 walks. He won the NL Silver Slugger award at DH. He was an All-Star in 2019.
