It happened at a busy time for the venue
A Nottingham restaurant will be closed for the foreseeable future after fire broke out in its kitchen. Firefighters were called to Turquoise, a Turkish restaurant in Hucknall Road, Sherwood, at around 7pm on Saturday, April 1."Everyone was ok, all the staff were safe," the staff member, who was working at the time of the fire, told Nottinghamshire Live. He said customers and staff evacuated the "busy" premises before calling the fire service.
"The damage is to the kitchen. We don't know how much it will cost, we are speaking to the insurance company." One person was treated at the scene for inhalation of smoke. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: "Our time of call was 19:12 last night. We were called to a property on Hucknall Road, Sherwood. It was a commercial restaurant property, the fire was in the ducting.
They continued: "We were there for quite some time, about an hour and a half. Crews from Highfields, Hucknall, Stockhill and Eastwood were in attendance. One adult male was treated at the scene by EMAS for inhalation of smoke." Nottinghamshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the scene. Multiple fire crews attended and the fire was put out at around 9pm.
