Children's book explores Vista boy's journey through chronic illness; Mason Harvey, 13, was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2020
VISTA, Calif. - In a new children's book, a local boy's journey through chronic illness is told—through a slice of a pizza.
Illustrated by Mason, and co-authored with his mom, Michelle, the book looks at a pizza slice named Reggie and his battle with an autoimmune disease. “This book is to teach you not to be afraid, get through it and finds ways to cope … one way is to help others,” said Michelle Harvey.Mason says he hopes anyone facing hardship will savor the story of the pizza slice.
