Charley Webb is known to millions of Emmerdale fans as Debbie Dingle
Charley Webb has opened up about what drove her Emmerdale exit and her major role in ITV’s new Peter Sutcliffe drama The Long Shadow.
It has been two years since Debbie Dingle, played by Charley Webb, 35, left the village. Since leaving, Charley has appeared in BBC crime thriller Better and she’s set for a significant part in The Long Shadow - about the Yorkshire Ripper.The ITV drama, which launched last week, follows the heinous crimes of Peter Sutcliffe and the terrible impact they had on Yorkshire. Sutcliffe was convicted of murdering 13 women between 1975 and 1980 in Yorkshire.
Former Emmerdale star Charley will make her first appearance in The Long Shadow, which has prompted a mixed reaction given the subject matter, in an episode set to air on Monday, October 2. Charley has spoken to WhatToWatch and her pursuit of new acting opportunities.“It felt like the right time for me personally to make that jump from Emmerdale and I don't have any regrets about it," he says.
