Though the parole board granted a release in February, the governor denied it, saying Van Houten was an 'eager participant' in the grizzly 1969 murders.
On 6/4/19 at 1:40 AM EDTLeslie Van Houten, a follower of Charles Manson who was the youngest member of the murderous cult, was denied parole by California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday.
Van Houten said in 2018 that she and other members of the Manson clan killed the LaBiancas and smeared their blood on the walls. A parole board in February granted her parole, but it came down to a 150-day review and pending signature from Newsom, who was the newly-elected governor at the time. "She chose to go with Manson," Pfeiffer said."She chose to listen to him. And she acknowledges that."
