Charles Grodin, 84, is an actor, comedian and author who has appeared in more than 30 films, including “Rosemary’s Baby” and “The Heartbreak Kid.” He is the author of eight books, including “Just When I Thought I’d Heard Everything” . He spoke with Marc Myers.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. My family wasn’t particularly well off. We lived along a streetcar line. You could hear them clatter past the house. They were part of the noise of everyday life.
