US Special Counsel Robert Mueller says charging President Trump with a crime was not an option, in his first comments on the Russia probe
Mueller made his first statement after two years overseeing the high-stakes probe, saying that having detailed at least 10 possible acts of obstruction by President Trump, it was not possible to say the US leader committed no crime.
"Charging the president with a crime was therefore not an option we could consider," Mueller told reporters as he announced his resignation from the Justice Department. Since the report's release, Democrats have debated whether to bring impeachment charges against Trump or simply continue their multiple investigations into his administration and his private business.
The investigation ensnared dozens of people, including several top Trump advisers and a series of Russian nationals and companies.
