24 hours after the claims of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse against the comedian emerged Channel 4 has revealed it will launch its own inquiry but the BBC is yet to commit to one
after he was accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse during the height of his career.
While the BBC, which Mr Brand also worked for during the period the allegations span, is yet to commit to an investigation, it said it is “urgently looking into the issues raised.” Both Channel 4 and the BBC have also encouraged anyone with concerns of Mr Brand’s behaviour to come forward. On Saturday evening it emerged that four women had come forward with allegations of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse against the comedian.
The spokeswoman for Channel 4 added: “Channel 4 is appalled to learn of these deeply troubling allegations including behaviour alleged to have taken place on programmes made for Channel 4 between 2004 and 2007.
