This century-old postcard looks across what is now one of the major routes into Watford town centre and may have been produced by the proprietor of one of the shops it features.is delighted to share pictures from the archive at Watford Museum and this week we feature this view from West Watford.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “There aren't many images of West Watford from the early 1900s. This postcard view looks across Whippendell Road and into Durban Road East with the wall of Vicarage Road Cemetery at its very far end.“The name R H Humphrey is inscribed in one corner of the image, but this is not a name commonly found on old Watford postcards.
