A Centerville resident said the last few weeks have rattled this tight-knit town as the manhunt for escaped convicted murderer, Gonzalo Lopez, continued, ultimately concluding in the death of a man and his grandkids.
CENTERVILLE, TX — A month-long manhunt for an escaped convict concluded in the death of a man and his grandkids, and police finally gunning down Gonzalo Lopez, 46, Thursday.
Several customers at the Town Cafe in Centerville told Spectrum News the Collins family were well-known in the area and their deaths have been a shock to this community. “Very, very loving and the kind of community where everyone knows and takes care of everybody,” Daniele said. “Locking my doors had been something I hadn’t done in a while. We got our guns out, and we were all watching out for each other, no doubt,” Daniele said.
