Leaders in law enforcement on the city, state and federal levels gathered to celebrate 25 years of reducing violent crime in Rochester through Project Exile.

ATF Director Steve Dettelbach praised the Rochester branch of Project Exile in its 25th annual celebration event.

"We work to do two things: identify the worst of the worst — the shooters, the trigger pullers — that are hurting our community, and get them off the street so they can't shoot again," said ATF Director Steve Dettelbach. "We started with eight, then nine, now 11 states, all contiguous, that are sharing information in real time to break the iron pipeline that is bringing illegal guns to our communities," said Hochul.

Dettelbach adds the ATF has confiscated more than 250 firearms in the city through the first 10 months of the year, including handguns, rifles, shotguns and assault-style rifles."They target the fundamental safety of this community, and this effort over the past year has allowed the community to take a break and get some measure of justice," said Dettelbach.
