Carlyle Group LP posted a stronger profit in the latest quarter as the private-equity firm recorded gains in investment income and fees. Carlyle reported net income in the first quarter of $142.9 million, or $1.18 a share, compared with $39.7 million, or 30 cents a share, a year earlier. Distributable earnings, or the amount of Carlyle's profits that can go to shareholders, fell 27% to $100.8 million.
