A man was intoxicated and driving a stolen minivan when he crashed it into a home in Somerset County on Christmas Eve, local police allege. The house on Taylor Avenue in Hillsborough was unoccupied when the Honda Odyssey smashed through the front of the building about 8 p.m., winding up completely inside, police said. The minivan came to rest partly in the garage and partly in the living room.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Pawel Zawadka, faces charges of driving while intoxicated and receiving stolen property, after police say they learned the vehicle had been reported stolen Friday evening in Manville. The house sustained severe structural damage that left it uninhabitable, police said, adding that Zawadka was not injured and was found by officers at the scene.
