Nearly 7 inches of rain had fallen northwest of Los Angeles by Tuesday.
The immediate area of the mudslide is known as the Bond Fire burn area, the site of a massive wildfire in December 2020 that forced the evacuation of 25,000 residents.
"When they're telling us two inches and we have charred hillsides, there's no way that it's going to hold," Modjeska Canyon resident Sheryl Edgar told KCAL-TV."We've just had a year. We barely have grass." "As little as six inches of swift-moving water can take you off your feet so we don't want any pedestrians in that moving water and we don't want you crossing that in your vehicle," said OCFA Captain Sean Doran.
