Tristan Thompson has long idolized Dennis Rodman, adding a dose of sentimentality to his opportunity to play for the Bulls.
Rodman, though, did so at a Hall-of-Fame level, and to the tune of five titles in his career. Thompson strives for such heights.
"I used to watch clips of his for five minutes before every playoff game," Thompson said."His activity, keeping the ball alive, just being relentless. Kind of just put that fire inside of me." While Thompson has never personally met"The Worm," he noted they follow each other on Instagram. He also, rather boldly, advocated for Rodman's jersey to be retired for his role in the Bulls' second three-peat.Regardless, Thompson stressed that his reverence for"The Worm" adds a dose of sentimentality to the opportunity to play in Chicago.
"The fact that I'm able to put on a Chicago Bulls jersey and just go out there and try to make Dennis proud. That's all I'm trying to do," Thompson said."It's an honor."
