Cleveland’s very own is now the highest-paid CB in the NFL.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Warden will now be locking it down in his hometown defensive backfield possibly for the rest of his career.
“Perfect world, I would definitely want to be a Brown for my entire career,’’ Ward said before minicamp last season. “I’m from Cleveland, the team that drafted me. The team that believed in me coming out of college and I take a lot of pride and respect into that. Just want to give my all to this team. It’s definitely a place I would want to be. I enjoy being a Cleveland Brown and giving them everything I got.
“To me, he’s a legitimate No. 1 corner just from a size, length and skill standpoint and his ability to matchup and play anybody one on one,” defensive coordinator Joe Woods said in December. Ward has also already had a tremendous impact on fellow first-round corner Greg Newsome II, who had an outstanding rookie season.“I learned a ton from him,” Ward said in January. “Just how to be a pro in general. The biggest thing I learned from him – I have said it before – is just every single day find one thing to focus on at practice and get better at that day.
