Police officers take positions ahead of the Queen Elizabeth II funeral today in central London. The Queen, who died aged 96 on Sept. 8, will be buried at Windsor alongside her late husband, Prince Philip, who died last year. The service, in the Gothic medieval abbey where Elizabeth was married in 1947 and crowned in 1953, will be attended by 2,000 people ranging from world leaders to health care workers and volunteers.
Central London was already packed before dawn today with people seeking out a prime viewing spot, and authorities warned that it would be extremely busy.
