Grand Oaks—which had five seniors this year, four making their varsity debut—had its 15-game win streak snapped and finished 38-10 overall. It’s the fourth consecutive year the Grizzlies’ season ends in the second round of the postseason. The Bears won the third set in another close one. Waggoner had Bridgeland’s final three points to put it away.
Sophomore outside hitter Samara Coleman and junior middle blocker Jaela Auguste produced crucial points to keep the Grizzlies within striking distance, but Waggoner and Kays put Grand Oaks away with their own heroics, finishing a win they set the tone of.
