In 2014, Todd and Julie started to share custody of Chloe with Johnson. The TV personalities' relationship with their son took a turn for the worst due to his personal battles. After Johnson was arrested for allegedly defrauding Medicaid and food stamps. Todd and Julie obtained full custody of their granddaughter in 2016. Chloe joined the rest of their kids which include Lindsie, Kyle, Chase, Savannah and Grayson.
In December 2022, Johnson opened up about her plans to fight for custody."I’m her biological mom. I didn’t walk away from her. I was pushed out of her life," she told TMZ, noting she was “in the process” of filing the official documents. “I want her home. She deserves to be home." At the time, Johnson cited Todd and Julie's previous move from Atlanta to Nashville as the reason why she wasn't able to file the paperwork sooner.
