A Brazoria County grand jury has declined to indict Deshaun Watson on criminal charges.
Watson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, said the Browns were aware of this complaint and Brazoria County grand jury process during their trade talks with the Texans. This is"not a surprise," he said. Cleveland met with Watson, who waived his no-trade clause for the franchise.“Deshaun Watson’s going to be Cleveland’s quarterback no matter what,” Hardin said.
Legal experts told the Chronicle Tuesday that Cleveland’s risk-assessment involving Watson, who has not been charged with a crime, would have likely included a “copious amount” of calculations regarding whether more lawsuits will be filed against Watson or if further criminal investigations will occur.
