A PUBLICAN backed by the Home Secretary Suella Braverman over displaying golliwog dolls in his Essex pub was today exposed for a series of racist social media posts.
However, Mr Ryley posted a picture of two golliwogs hanging from a beam at the White Hart Inn, in Grays, Essex, with the comment: “They used to hang them in Mississippi years ago.” TripAdvisor records three customer complaints about the dolls in 2018, with one visitor writing: “Racist owners, golliwogs all over the place as well on display! High prices, poor service and staff, crap food, run down and dirty as well.”
“Police forces should not be getting involved in this kind of nonsense. It’s about tackling anti-social behaviour, stopping violence against women and girls, attending burglaries and catching criminals – not seizing dolls.”
