“After years of hard work, finally, it’s there, and it’s such an overwhelming feeling,” said Clendenin, who is signed with Virginia Military Institute “I don’t know how to explain it. It’s just amazing.” “I’ve had great meets and then you fall down and have a bad meet,” Clendenin said. “The key is not letting that bad meet get to your head. It’s about getting to the next meet and just going back to practice the next day, working on the footwork, getting all the reps in so it becomes muscle memory at that point.”
“I’ve never thrown anywhere close to this in a meet so throwing that and just barely scratching, it showed me that I can throw that in this kind of situation,” Clendenin said. “So, it only just motivated me more and pushed me to hit to that farther distance.”“I knew I was on the cusp of something, and it happened,” Clendenin said. “It was just a matter of time.”
