Bose has announced the $399 SoundLink Max Bluetooth speaker. It’s got stereo sound, powerful bass, an aux input, and a USB-C port for charging your phone.
Say what you will about Bose’s more ambitious swings — I appreciate that it takes them in the first place — but today, the company is releasing a new product in a category that it’s always been pretty excellent at: Bluetooth speakers. Bose is more or less supersizing its SoundLink Flex into a new, larger model called the SoundLink Max.
But in reality, most people are going to go wireless more often than not, and the company has thankfully included AptX Adaptive codec support for higher-bitrate streaming than the standard AAC and SBC that the speaker also supports. Battery life is rated at around 20 hours, and like many other portable speakers today, it’s got a USB-C that can be used to juice up your phone when you’re away from an outlet. Measuring 10.42 inches wide, 4.73 inches high, and 4.
